Design Considerations

Every i.STAR site starts with a design unique to our retailer. With the standard set up, the design for the site consists of a page "wrapper" (ie. top, bottom, left, right sides) design, as well as a home page design. i.STAR's admin area allows you to modify certain aspects of the dynamic content area such as product listing page style, number of items per page, image size, font and font colors, and more. But if you wish to customize your site beyond the admin settings, you have that choice, also. Additional design can be done for customization within the dynamic content area, additional pages, or other customizations. Your i.STAR project manager can scope out your needs and tailor a project for you.
If additional design or customization is the direction you're headed in, there are several options available to you:
1. If you already have a web site and want to keep the same look for your i.STAR site, your CAM project manager will evaluate your current site and provide a quote for the build out on an i.STAR site.
2. If you don't have a web site or you want to start with a new design from your existing web site, your CAM project manager will work with you to develop a look just for you and give you a price up front to do the design and build out effort.
3. If you are already working with a third-party web firm, you also have the option of having our i.STAR team work with our web firm to create your unique design for your i.STAR site. The level of interface between your design firm and CAM is largely up to you. Your web firm can provide design inputs that CAM generates a design for, they can provide mock ups and provide the design files to CAM for build out, or CAM can build out your web firm's design for the core shopping cart pages and then your design firm can build out additional pages or do additional customizations to your i.STAR pages. Whatever you choose, we will provide a quote based on the customization and integration level required.
If it's in the scope of your project to highly customize your shopping cart pages including the dynamic content areas, your web firm may want to know more information about i.STAR such as how many standard shopping cart pages there are (see link -- i.STAR Action ID Listing) or if the shopping cart buttons (such as Add to Cart, Continue Shopping, etc.) can be customized (yes, they can). i.STAR is the core of the e-commerce shopping site, but there are many possibilities of what can be done with it to meet your individual needs and your i.STAR project manager will be able to help determine what is possible and put together a project tailored just for you.
Customizable Pages:
Your i.STAR shopping cart includes a number of web pages that can be customized for your needs, if desired:
Home page : Introduce your store, feature items and special offers, and more.
Product Listing Page: Automatically display items with a Department/Class/Subclass or other criteria based on records from Retail STAR/CAM32.
Product Detail Page : Display product specific information including main product image, Color images, alternate images, extended description, stock status, and suggested selling related items
Specials : Automatically display all items with sale prices in Retail STAR or CAM32 or select specific items to display
View Cart : Display the list of items your shopper intends to purchase every time they add a new item or only when they click on the shopping cart link
Visible Shopping Cart : Display the running total of line items and $$ for the cart visible on each page
About Us : Include information on your store's history, mission, address, etc.
Customer Service : Include FAQs, policies, store directions, and other information for shoppers to access
My Account : Shopper's online order history, billing and shipping info, and password can be viewed and maintained here
